This is a two-part post. If you just want the summary, just read this one. If you want the “dirty details” then read Part Two also. Selling the most arms in the World, the US sold $208.47 billion compared to second place Russia, with $86.12 billion.

So much is bizarre with these arms sales. First is that Congress is well aware of this. Second, the vast majority of these sales go to developing countries that probably could spend the money in better ways. The most interesting part is to look at what we specifically sell to what country and then look at a map and see what we sell to their neighbors.

From the moment of the invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, in fact, everything the U.S. military touched in these years has turned to dust. Nations across the Greater Middle East and Africa collapsed under the weight of American interventions or those of its allies, and terror movements, one grimmer than the next, spread in a remarkably unchecked fashion.

There’s no doubt about it: three letter agencies like the NSA, FBI and CIA and the ones we don’t yet know about are full of great people who want nothing but the best for their fellow human beings. People join these agencies because they have good hearts, and want to see the world thrive in a state of peace, equality, abundance and freedom.
