In all of the discussion over the crisis in Puerto Rico due to the two storms, the financial position of Puerto Rico is raised as part of the problem. The strong intimation from the media is that we need to bail them out. I figure it’s time to remind everyone of how they got in the mess they are in!…
I found the Abbeville Institute some years ago. It’s one of the best “intellectual” sites out there on culture and history of the South. …
Ok, I get it. Folks have political views. Most people keep their political views out of the workplace, and these days even away from family gatherings. It seems pretty stupid though to claim that things aren’t political when they so clearly are. …
Military bridge making is a lost skill, so it’s interesting to see how a mere “bridge” has such an impact. During the Cold War, the US Army had a lot of awesome bridge making and maintaining units and equipment. …
Couple of thoughts came to mind when I read this. The first was thinking that Apple was pretty clever to do such a thing. We don’t live in Alabama, so we don’t get to vote today (we’re working on that move though!). Bannon nails what’s at stake here, and there are some really good lessons for all of us who despise the deep state. The biggest lesson dispels the notion that we can’t overcome the big money that the deep state has. Strange and the deep state spent over $30 million dollars. Judge Moore has spent less than half a million dollars with most of it being $10-$20 contributions from folks like us.…
The US has a demonstrated history of “using” the Kurds and pulling out the rug from under them once we no longer need them. This goes back to Kissinger days. What’s up this time?

War has always been a political venture with the victors taking the “booty” so to speak. WW One changed the amounts of money to be made on war and history has never been the same. Our current “never ending” wars have taken profiteering to hard-to-fathom levels.…
