Saudi Arabia has many of the same problems that the US has. They have the money to try and influence its enemies with military force, yet they haven’t been successful.
Most westerners don’t realize that Saudi Arabia has enemies along its borders and that they’ve been subject to invasions in recent years. They’ve built a “wall” on the border with Iraq. They’ve funded and coerced the US to topple Syria’s leader. They invaded Yemen and are still fighting there. Despite having a huge technological and military equipment advantage they aren’t winning.
They are actually hiring soldiers from foreign countries to serve in their military in Yemen.

This isn’t news. I’ve been saying this since the “red line” was first established by Obama over Syria. Ironically Saudi Arabia acknowledges that this attempt failed. The US is still meddling in Syria.
What’s important for us is to recognize that the conservative media is finally reporting this. Obviously they liked the strategy, but now that it failed they want to report on it.
I have no access to any special “intelligence”. I read about this effort in open source newspapers from Russia, Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Iran, etc.

The Kurds have been America’s “whipping boy” for many decades. I don’t understand why they still believe us. Kissinger was the first to pump them up and then pull the plug on them once we didn’t’ need them anymore. We did it again to them after the first Gulf War. We’re doing it again.
Despite our efforts in the never ending wars in the Middle East and Africa, we are creating allies and alliances that without our intervention would never have happened.
Who would have believed when we started that Iran and Iraq would form a military alliance? Who could have seen the time where Russia would gain huge influence in the Middle East again? The Saudis and the Israelis are partnering up on issues. The King of Saudi Arabia visits Russia for the first time ever.
We’ve achieved some regional stability. Just not the stability that we set out to accomplish.…
Continuing in my theme of “what’s the harm in talking”, Saudi Arabia’s King traveled to and met with the President of Russia last week. Historic in the fact that it was the first visit ever by the King to Russia.
Unlike our media, the rest of the world sees the economic power, growth and influence of Russia in the Eurasia region. We fixate on military might. Russia and China are focused on economic might.
Russia and Saudi Arabia have some key differences and some key common interests. Both want higher oil prices. They disagree on Iran and they disagree on Salafi-jihadi terror. Amazingly (not really) oil won the day and the Saudis didn’t get their way on controlling Iran.
It was a win-win for Russia and Saudi Arabia. Of course Saudi Arabia still controls the US, so we’ll do their bidding in Iran. …
American policy in Syria has always been bizarre. Israel and Saudi Arabia (two of our claimed allies) wanted Assad gone. We trained and armed (at great expense to we the taxpayers) opposition groups that gravitated to ISIS. We sent ground military forces there to train opposition groups. The CIA did the same. CIA forces engaged in direct combat with US Army forces. It’s a mess. A mess caused by us acting as a “for hire” military for our allies.

The proxy war in Syria was never about an internal insurgency. Saudi Arabia and Israel both wanted Assad gone for different reasons, but worked together to accomplish the goal. We armed the rebels to include ISIS to help them accomplish the goal. The “evil” Russians stopped that plan.

As you look at problems in the Middle East, it’s easier to understand if you look for the Saudi Arabia “fingerprints”. And they are our “ally”.…
